BONUS STORY: I had the privilege to meet Herb Alpert and gave him a bottle of Fred's Red, a Pinot Noir I made and in memory of my Dad, I also gave him a proof of Blind Guys Break 80, my heart-felt novel where the music of Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass represents a link that keeps a dysfunctional, partially broken, transplanted Freehold, New Jersey family together.
I told Herb how much his TJB music meant to me and my family, and how I placed earphones on my dying father so he could hear the music in his morphine haze and leave this world dancing with my Mom. Herb was a real gentleman. A true original.
What can I say? My life is fiction and fiction is life because we come into this world on a dream and go out the same way.
